Exclamation What is the expected life of a Gsl-Se 13B engine?

13B RE-EGI, how often does this thing need rebuilding? I know 3rd gens need to be rebuilt after 60,000 miles or so, but then again their under boost. Gimme some answers

As long as you treat them right, they will last a long long time.... My 84 13b lasted about 230000km... Not sure how many miles that is, But i know its over 160miles

If you do proper routine maintenance (oil change, etc) those 13B's are almost bulletproof. They should last you a lifetime. The 3rd gens had crappy turbos and a not so good cooling system. The other 13B's are different.

I've got almost 150k miles and it's stronger now than it was when it rolled off the factory. Keep the fuel, oil, and cooling systems in good shape and the engine just won't die.

Manntis' car has ~220,000 kms on it and runs strong. I would think that 250,000 kms and beyond would be no problem in a well-maintained example. I've had bad luck with 12a's though. Of course, that could have something to do with how I treat them.

Interesting. I've never even wondered about longevity variation of the different 13B's. How do the old 4 port 13B's hang vesus the 6 port SE's ? More, less, the same ?

Mine only has 4000 miles on it, so I'm not too worried, but it would be nice to know of any inherent differences and especially the reason(s) why.

they last as long as you allow them to.
treat the engine good and you'll be good.

All depends on maintenance. It'll last as long as the mop keeps functioning, undiagnosed failure and down she goes.........

Both of mine were running right around 200k,

One car was wrecked but still running and to my knowledge is still going strong with leaky oil control rings and coolant seals.

The other I pulled out around 195k for a streetport. The motor was still showing strong compression though.
