what do you pay for gas?

man i was pissed today. here in lincoln, NE i saw the price for the cheap stuff run $1.65 to $1.71. and then i found out that there is a vote going on to put a $0.05 tax per gallon on gas. that makes it $1.70 to $1.76. holy ****. i'm just gona drive to the neighboring town where the price is $1.45 from now on. it's only 10 miles out. and the stuff with ethnol in it is the cheap stuff. it's around 90 octane and is $0.05 cheaper than the lowest octane, 87. WTF is wrong with this place.

it's about $0.79 per litre here right now... so like $3 per gallon...

you guys get it cheap?! My math can't be right?

1 gallon = 3.78541 Litres....

1 litre of gas here is 79 cents

$0.79 x 3.78541 - $2.9904739

$2.99 a gallon

I'm moving to the states

in bay area california, most prices for low octane starts at about 2.00+/gal and high octane can go as high as (and maybe even higher) 2.40/gal

1.58ish for regular here in New Jersey and get this..... it's illegal for to pump our own gas. We have to sit in the car while the attendant pumps it for us. Pretty much every other state has self serve and their prices are much much higher. Know why? ........ damn insurance that's why. I hope NJ never goes self serve.

Today at my local servo (Gas station) it was 88.8 cents per litre (Here in Australia). Work that out.
Last year, during the high times - fuel got to $1.05 cents per litre.
Currently in New Zealand -$1.12 - per litre !!!!!
Ouch, you dudes in the states have it made!!!

Yeah but water is really REALLY expensive over here. A 16oz bottle of water goes for about $1.25. That's $10/gallon just for water! Do you believe it?!?!

And we complain about the price of gas.

$10 is about what we pay for a gallon of water in Norway too. Fortunatly the water in the tap is very good quality, so we seldom buy water..

Yesterday I paid $1.68/gallon for my SUV...man did that hurt cuz I was dead empty...I also hope we never go to self serve cuz it gets cold during winter! When I lived in SoCal I didn't mind as much cuz I never was cold...

As for CA and Norway, do you guys have your own Oil supply? US does, which may be why it is so much cheaper than other countries...

Gas in the USA is way cheaper then in europe. NOT because of the own oil you have (the majority of oil products in the USA are imported) but because we pay huge taxes on fuel etc.
One liter of fuel costs 1.06euro in Belgium at the moment. This equals 1.15477 dollar. For ONE LITER!
I'm not sure how many liters a gallon is, but let me tell you: stop bitching about fuel prices and come living overhere. THEN you know what high prices are.
Only good thing about it is that we get better qualtity fuel overhere...

Yeah, we have lots of oil.. no problem there..

just as rotary emotions says it, there is lots of taxes on gas.

Here is a quote from this article : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/930280.stm

Norway is the world's second-largest oil exporter, yet the country's 4.5m people pay among Europe's highest prices for gas.

That is mostly due to taxes that add more than 70% to the pump price.

just get an LPG conversion ... quite popular in OZ and the UK and should make more power than petrol. trouble is you need to find room for a tank and the rest of the crap that goes with it. $0.10 a litre last time I checked !!

omg i saw the funniest **** last night. so i'm driving down this hgue hy-way. it goes right by my old little town i grew up in. the hy-way recently expanded to 3 lanes. and also got a huge gas station/restraunt, AKA truck stop. right across the street is the towns gas staion. same old man sam owns it. calls it buy and run. but the gas at the trusck stop was 1.71, go across the street to the small town station, 1.27 for the same stuff. i thought that was funny enough but no i see this guy that was driving a huge truck with a camper attatched to it walk over with a 10 gallon contaner and fill it twice and walk back across the street and put it in his truck.

Thanks to our local fuel monopoly (Renner corp), we enjoy even higher fuel prices here in Humboldt County. When I checked this morning, it had gone up to $2.28/gal for 87 octane.

Here on teh northern Pacific coast it was 1.81 for 87 last week. Right now it is 1.98... it isn't that bad if you live in town.
I on the other hand, live about 35 miles from town and i have the make the trip EVERYDAY. 70 miles there and back everday plus about 10 miles here and there so we will say teh average is about 75. Every 3 days about 28 bucks. I get paid every 15 days. 15 / 3 = 5 x 28= 140 dollars EVERY 15 days. I get about 300 dollars a paycheck. We are looking about HALF of ALL my money goes to gas alone. How sad is this? I can't buy parts for the car cuz i am too busy keeping it with a full tank.
