Unhappy What to do?

I have an '85 GS (FB) with a good body (1 rust spot at keyhole), good interior and BLOWN engine. I love the car, but don't have the know-how to rebuild or replace engine myself. Looking for opinions on whether it's worth it to spend the $$ on a Pineapple Racing rebuild. Poor baby's been sitting for a year now, because I haven't wanted to spend the $$, but haven't had the heart to get rid of it. If I do part with it, what do you think I could get for a pretty little car with a trashed engine?

Most definitely worth getting the rebuild, I say. I'm going to say that since you came on here (and apparently signed up back in February of '05) you own the car because of how enjoyable it is to you, so definitely get the engine rebuilt.

If you sell it, with a bad engine, the most I'd say is 500 to 700 dollars. On that same note, there is a reason you've not had the heart to sell it, remember that.

A good used 12a bought from the for sale section would be very inexpensive. I was going to do a rebuild myself, but I soon realized it would cost alot more then just the rebuild kit and I just bought a motor off the forum.

I've a spare 13B I'd sell, complete with wiring harness, but shipping would be a killer. Them suckers aren't exactly featherweights.

How sure are you that the current engine is blown? How was this diagnosed? A lot of times a rotory will just flood, show low compression as a result, and be declared as dead. So let's just be really sure that you really need an engine before we go any further, eh?

Thats a good thought kentetsu, as you always are a great help. If its been sitting a year, I say, change out the oil, fuel filter, check spark plugs. Just do a normal maintanence. See if that helps. Will the engine even crank??
