My grandfather lived accross from a guy that had a 1960 something I think 67 chevy nova. His son bought the car new, and within a month shipped out to vietnam and was killed. The car only had 500 miles on it at the time. The father now the owner of the car kept it covered in his heated garage which also had a collection of rare motorcycles. He changed the oil at least every year. Changed the coolant every few years and kept the car on jackstands so the tires and suspension wouldn't age. by around 1995 the car only had 800 or so miles, the guy only drove it around the block once a month.
A chevy dealer offered 45000 for it, but he wouldn't take it.

I don't think it's worth $30,000 dollars but maybe $15,000 to $20,000? I have seen mint, but very mint ones go for $7,000 to $10,000. But I do agree, it is probably the lowest ones I know of unless Mazda put a brand new one in the museum.

Damn nice car, but...in reality...what do you do with it? I would be afraid to drive it. Even a rock chip would **** me off to no end. I'll stick with my 131K '85 SE. Well, I guess I have to since I don't have 30K laying around!

Nice a museum piece yes, am I interested no I can buy a 110s cosmo for that kind of money also I dislike the red interior 30K not yet maybe in another 15 years with no miles on it.

As for the existing $30,000 bid (reserve not met) I have my doubts--- the seller probably posted that bid to get the ball rolling.
These cars sold for around 15K U.S. in 1985. I'd say it might be worth 20K right now but not 30. Also, considering the afore-mentioned item sold on ebay by this guy he sounds like a shyster. I'd insist on seeing the car and all of its paperwork before plunking down one penny on it, the cost of return airfare to Alaska notwithstanding.
Run the VIN in all 50 states too. What if it were stolen from a dealership? That would explain why it's been under wraps for so long.
BTW, can anybody verify that the battery is the original? Manntis perhaps?
