What all is possible with my 13b

I was just wondering how much hp and torque you can get out of a 13b without a power adder.

I'm just wondering this because I've garaged my Camaro, and I'm buying a Caddy in a week, so the RX7 is no longer needed as a daily driver, which means that finally, I can make a race car

I'm just trying to figure out which one has better power potential in comparison to their (Camaro and RX7) wieght and what not.

I want to work on the Rx7 first, then the camaro, but I would like to know how far I can go with it before it wont get any faster

And it needs to be on the 13b, I would love the get a cosmo engine, or a turbo 12a, but seeing as the 13b is in the car, I would like to make a fast stocker

With a Big streetport 13b, and all the bolt ons (Carb, exhaust, intake) you could very easily get 225hp.
Go bridge port, and your looking at around 275hp (someone correct me if I am wrong on that.
Periphal POrt, and your looking at an easy 300Hp.
BUT! with a bridgey, or PP they will rev like hell, and makes tons of top end power, but you have to sacrafice a little reliability/longevity.

Well in the end, I would like both my Camaro and my RX7 to run about the same 1/4 mile, I'm gonna get the camaro upto 450 hp and about 475 - 500 torque, without power adders, I figure with the size of the rx7 being half of the camaro the RX7 will completely kill the camaro (YAY) then I will have to build the Camaro up to beat the RX7 (YAY) then i will have to rebuild the RX7, so on and so forth, eventually I will be driving two 6 second 1/4 mile race cars

But what I need to know is, is it possible to make my RX7 as fast as I'm going to make my camaro

Is it possible to make the engine hold more then 300 hp without power adders?

I know that I'm sounding greedy, but this is going to be a several year project, and I want to lay the plans down first before I just start throwing money at the cars

If your camaro is going to be pusing 450HP+, then theres no way the 13B can keep up with it if its still gonna be an N/A. If you were to turbo the puppy, then that quickly changes. Rotary's were BUILT for boost.

what exactly is a "power adder"?

The engine can take 300+ but it better have a very upgraded oiling system (17mm oil pump, -10AN oil lines, 110psi oil pressure regulator, etc..) and a great cooling system (bigger raidator, new water pump, etc..) if you expect it to live for a LONG time.

You would be better off going witha streetported 13b and a turbo than bridge or periph since they idle @ 1800+ and have crap gas mileage and kick and buck under 4000rpms. been there, doing that.

1st gen rx7 weight ~ 2400lbs +- depending on year. older ones with more options weighed more than earlier ones.

never underestimate the advantage of having proper gearing. a 4.444 ring and pinion + 626 rwd or miata semi-close ratio tranny can really improve acceleration!

By power adders I mean Nitrous or Chargers
I'm just interested in getting them both running about the same so I don't baby one
if I have to slim down the Camaro, then that is what I can do
cause I'm not interested in the whole award winning fast cars, I just wanna say "Hay, I have to fast cars, how fast you ask? DAMN FAST "

What I wanna do is get them both as far as I can with just engine, then add any chargers or nitrous I can afford

What my first step is is gut the hell out of both cars, no AC or anything, their gonna be garaged at bad weather anyways, just take wieght off of everything I can, then rebuild the 13b, and then throw the 305 off of a building (god 305s suck) and replace it with a 350, and then when I have them both working (new tranny and rear ends and such) then I will start with the power making, at first I want the rx7 to be faster (cause its a pride thing, seeing as 13bs are so tiny, it would be great to kill V8S) then I want to catch up with the camaro (easy eh ) then I continue doing that, then when I just can't go anymore, I'm going to detune one down to the other, then BOOM, two completely differant cars, running the same timeslips
So what is I have to put hella power adders to the 13b to keep up with the V8, cause V8s have a bigger aftermarket for performance, so its easier to beef it up.

I'm babbling, I'm having a horribly odd, good, bad, great, shitty, but good day
Alot of suprises and let downs

from what I know you are giong to have to do some serious mods to the rear end to put down a good time. 7's are not built to come off the line they are built for road racing not the quarter mile. Why no bottle? I think that is the biggest banfg for you're buck and I can't see it really being too hard on a rotor.I haven't heard much about that so someone please correct me if I'm wrong about the bottle cause I fully plan on getting one for my stocker.

He probably doesnt want to use a power adder because some racing classes pit you against unfavorable matchups if you have a turbo. As it its in my area, if you have a rotary you are racing against some quick cars (Hybrid Modified) instead of stock cars (Super street). So Yeah also around here you have a rotary it has to be fuel injected or they put you in yet another harder to win class. Sucks, so Im tryng to get the most out of my 13B N/A fuel injected car. Good luck man share what you learn!

If he's looking for the fastest car he can build for straight-line, stop-light-to-stoplight duty, then there is no way the RX7 can touch the Camaro,,,naturally aspirated, sad but true...torque rules on the street, simple as that...

Nope but the modifications required are not out of the realm of a weekend mechanic.
