What is this?

Alright I took my carb and intake off and in the process I broke this:

What does it do and do I need it and is there a replacement. It screwed into here:

If you are removing the rats nest, you no longer need it. Finish breaking off the rest of the plastic, JB Weld the hole shut in it, and reinstall. I believe its a type of check vacuum check valve.

Its a positive crankcase vent valve aka PCV. Used on early 1st gnes. It doesnt look broken to me.

well i have the piece that broke off sitting on top of the rest it so yall can see the whole piece, it is broke off right at the base. can i just put a rubber nipple on the part that the PCV hose goes too and what do i do with the place that it screwed into to.

id try to get the rest out and buy a new pvc. Crankcase breathers are usually important
