What is the 5th gear switch for?

There is a switch on my transmission (85 GS) on the passenger side that says in the manual it is the 5th gear switch. What is it for.
I have a replacement trans that doesn't have this switch.
Does it matter?

Good question. I put a tranny from an '83 into my '85 automatic and used the wiring harness from the '83 and it worked fine without any modifications. The '85 is supposed to have a clutch/neutral switch for starting too...

That is a pretty obscure question. I think my sisters '84 GS auto had that switch, but I don't remember.
