Ah,

My friend, you have encountered yet another difference of area.

The "FB" designation is American/Canadian in origin. I knew definitely that all the Japanese cars had kept the "SA" designation, I belive right through the 84-85s, while in the US and Canada, the FB was introduced as a modle number in the 1981 model year cars.

Series 3 .. hmm. I've never been good with the series, but I'd hazard a gues that Series 3 is usually '84-85.

I'd check the stickers on the inside of the doors to find out the month/year of your car's production release from the plant. That's a good indicator of what year it is, and those stickers will also have info about what release year the car was under (some cars are produced the year before their release year, as in I can buy an '04 car right now), and other good information.

Hope it helped
Jon
