went to the drag strip today...

LACR - Palmdale... my pretty much stock 79 was the only rotary representing tonight... best run was 16.955 with an .862 (sleeping at the light all night), wheels hopping through first, chirping in second and third, about 75 degrees outside. i was proud.

my car has a long way to go to be dialed in right, it was a pretty good night considering.

I've got a 12a SP with RB exhaust. Last night, around 80* with 90% humidity. Ran a 16.228 @ 86.221 mph with a .087 reaction time. Open Carb, stock nikki and intake.

Weather sucked ***.

Best time so far is a 15.829 @ 88.87 mph with a .119 RT.

Hopefully I'll be getting a Sterling soon. Should bring it down to mid 15's

Mind you, these cars were never intended to drag race....

They are corner carvers. How many cars come with factory tow hooks?

I can name 1.........

LOL, that's what I was thinking.

As far as times go, I need to take my 85 GSL and see what it runs. My brother's 85 mild streetport, with full RB exhaust and a Holley, ran 14.8's, untuned, so you guys have something going on if you're not able to get at least to the low 15's, IMO. He had stock gears and stock ignition, and there was a lot left in that car. I think it had a high 13 in it, but it blew up before we got to tune it or make anymore mods.

I went and made a couple 1/8th mile passes last night. Was a little muggy but still not to bad.

Went a best of 7.35 @ 94mph, mph was a little low becasue it felt like it loaded up on the last shift.

Yea, not sure yet about the transmission. Car is still on the trailer. Should find out today if it is fubar or not. I got a couple extra so no big worry though.
I be sure and shoot you an email next time I head there, it will be a couple weeks though. As I think next week we are heading down to Bowling Green

What was your 60 foot times? Launch rpms and shifting rpms?
7.35 1/8 is nice.

I launched at 4000rpms with 1.96-2.0 60 foot times, shifted at 6300rpms in to 2nd and 3rd gear. My 1/8 mile times were 7.5 at 98-99mph.

I'm running so slow because it's hot as crap here, and always 70% humidity or higher. That, and of got the stock Nikki, and intake in desperate need of the Sterling treatment.
