well, ive gotta sell my fb....

not that i dont love it and want to keep it, but gas in this town has just gone astronomical. we're vying to host the olympics, and our bid money is coming out of increased gas taxes. it now costs me a day's wages to fill my tank, which i do once a week.

It wasnt like this a month ago, before i bought the car, but the price jumped almost 20c a litre about three days before i got it.

its funny thought, lots of people told me not to buy this car, citing the fact that it would be expensive to get parts for it, and the rotary engine would fail after 100,000kms.

so i can put up with the cost for a little longer. Im going away all summer for basic training, so ill probably try to sell it by then. first i have to get it aircared though, as no-one in this town will buy a car that hasn't been emmissions passed.

too bad. maybe i'll try to find one again when im 30 and have a house and decent job.

can anyone suggest me a car with some of the charm, potential and pricel of a 1st gen--- without the 15mpg fuel economy?

I assume you're joining the Canadian armed forces so I can't say my experiences are the same, but I'm 6 months out of training. Any idea what you'll be doing? In all fairness, consider keeping the FB, as they're hard to find in good shape. Within 6 months you'll likely be back (depending on your field) to retrieve her and gas prices should drop by then. Gas prices are inflated now because of uncertainty in the Gulf but they'll come down. If she's a keeper, keep her!

PM me with some specifics on what you're doing if you would. My new forum ID is Critoris but I can't post under it yet.

the thing is, my cars' not really in that great condition. it has a lot of dents, and while it is surprisingly rust free, ther is a _lot_ of work to be done before it ever looks "nice".

there are always at least a half dozen fb's in the local buy-n-sell, many of them babied and souped-up. selling it would hardly be an unrecoverable loss.
