Weber Woes

Ok have a 45 dcoe setup by u know who, this thing is a pain in my ***...... but anyway, the carb. leaks fuel out the barrels sometimes ( this has resulted in a fire in my engine compartment when i though i had the prob. fixed). trying to track the problem I took the top off the carb and found the needle check ball to be pinched into the needle (dont know how this could have happened?) so i buy a rebuild kit to get a new needle and seat. i put those on and instaled some gaskets and the filter that came with the kit (these werent on the carb when i opened it?) started the car, same thing fuel pooring out the barrels. So i think myabe the floats are sticking (they didnt exactly come out easily, as im told they should) I have the plastic floats and brass ones the only place we have found them are $40.
I dont even know what to do from here and was wondering if anyone else has encountered this
Any help would be appreciated and "you know who" if you could call or contact me privately it would be appreciated.

thanks

Dustin

The floats stuck the exact same way on my brand new 48 weber. The little piece of metal the ball sits on needs to be bent up slightly, that'll fix the sticking problem. Just grab it with needle nose pliers and bend it very slightly until it doesn't stick anymore. I'm guessing "you know who" is robert?

Leaking fuel is almost always either a needle and seat sticking or a mis-leveled float. Neither one of which could be foreseen without running the carb previous to shipping.
