the side drafts freezing up tripped me out too.

I'm running a stock 6 port 13B with a Weber 48DCOE carb and it runs amazing. Been on this setup for about 2 years now and haven't replaced the carb, bought it used to. Occasionally change out the jettings, that's about it.

Edelbrock all the way for a dd! Better than a holley, and the 4bbl will give you the wide powerband. And way easier to tune than a weber.
(disclosure: I have never tuned a weber anyway. But I'm a tuning idiot and I am doing ok with the edelbrock!)
