Weber 48 IDA question

O.K. here it goes, I have been having alot of problems tuning my carb. I have tried just about every combination possible of jets and all it did was get worse at times. I finally decided to take it apart and see if something was wrong on the inside. My question is about the brass float itself. Is there supposed to be any liquid in it at all? Mine has some liquid in it, how it got in there I dont know but if that is the problem I will find it and solder it up. Thanks.

there shouldnt be any gas inside. if there is, it can cause flooding. Either drain it and resolder, OR buy a new one.

Is this a Racing Beat 48 IDA?? I plan on buying one but hate the thought of having to tune another carb after the headache I had with the RB holley carb.

Yeah its an RB weber. Tuning does suck yeah but it gives me a reason to work on it. The wife doesnt nag me much when I have the garage filled with exhaust fumes LOL. Oh and by the way I did drain it and solder it back up. Seems to idle and rev up alot better. I cant go drive it cause I have the front end torn out of it. In the middle of replacing all the tie rods and ball joints.
