Smile Weber 45 Running Pretty Good now!

Hey guys,
First I'd like to thank wackyracer, I used his tip of cleaning out the carb with brake cleaner and this and a few other things worked out in the end...

The car now holds and idle of about 900 rpms yes I know I should have it at 700-800 but thats minor at this point!

Heres all of what I did
1) took off the whole front pulley and make sure the timing was dead on by the key being at 9 o'clock and the timing marks at 12 o'clock
2) Rewired the fuel pump with a switch beside the steering wheel. 14 gauge wire all the way back to the pump.
3) Took a 90 degree bend out of my fuel lines.
4) Adjusted float levels ever so slightly
5) Cleaned the carburatoer as best as possible with brake cleaner.

Well the car seemed to run pretty good, except it seemed like it could have more high RPM potential, at about 5-6000 rpms you can feel the car lose most of its power.

Thanks for all the help guys! Any tips on high rpm power is appreciated!

Good for ya. I bet you wont be able to forget that experience. Now that you got the idle fix, start playing with the venturies and main jets so it doesnt cut out at top end.

sounds good. i like hearing encouraging stories like this that make you feel good. i'm sure you'll have more options than my DHLA, so yeah do wha wackyracer said and start getting some jets and venturis. however, i've never been crazy about the design of manifold, maybe you could consider the Lake Cities unit farther down the road when you maximize your current setup.
