water gasket blown

well i was told that i blew my water gasket, cause it over heated and when i it wouldnt start i checked the plugs and water came pouring out, and the place i got my engine built at, pinnaple racing, wants to charge me 600 bucks to replace it and another 600 to pull the engine and put it back in. first is this a good price?? second i really would like to try to save the 600 by pullying it myself but i have now way to do it, anyone in the portland, or area that could help? and last should i just scrap it and try to find a 13b? , which i found a 13b-t on ebay shipped for 1100?

If your engine overheated, you probably have a lot more trouble than just a blown coolant seal. And if you pulled the plugs and got coolant coming out, then there's a world of trouble!

Chances are that it will cost more than $1200 to get that rebuilt. Do a search on Pineapple Racing on the forum and see what comes up. I can't remember if they've got a good or bad rep. IF you haven't warped your intermediate housings or done any other serious damage, a *real* rebuild will cost way more than that.

If this engine was rebuilt by Pineapple, and then you overheated it, they might be giving you a good price because they know they won't have to replace many of the seals used in rebuilding the engine.

Can we get more info about when Pineapple built the engine, and what they're going to do for the $600?
