The Strut Tower Brace helps reduce flex in the struts when driving. Stiifens the front and rear ends. They aid in
handeling.

As far a an actual strut is concerned thye are part of the suspension sytem. I can't actually explain what is does or how it works, but some one will chime in with that. I hope

The strut and shock should really be called dampeners. They keep the car from bouncing up and down after hitting a bump in the road, which is what the spring will naturally want to do. If a shock or strut is shot, the wheel will hop up and down as you hit bumps and the handling will be very poor.

shock is just the dampener, a strut has a coil spring around the dampener.
