Warped Housings

2 things, First: Would Over heating my exhaust cause the housing to warp. what happened was i was running it (and at the time i didnt realize that it was lean) and so the exhaust started glowing RED hot. So would that cause the housing to warp. And if so what can i do about it.

Thing 2: My tach is intermitantly working. Like it will work and then not work. I dont assume its the Ignitor because its solid state and it either works or it doesnt. What woudl the problem be ??

Most likely cause of your hot exhuast is ignition timing. Are you sure the two problems are not related? I would verify that you have spark on both leading and trailing ignition before anything else.

well thats the thing.. i dont even have to verify that i have spark on the trailing, because if the tach is working there is spark and if its not then there is not sark.

Well actually I don't doubt that you have spark on the trailing. But if that was all that you had (no leading) then the engine would be running in a severely retarded state. Sparking the fuel that late in the cycle would result in incomplete combustion which would torch your exhaust system. Usually when I hear of someone's exhaust running extremely hot, it will come down to an ignition problem. I don't know, just throwing ideas out for you. Good luck.

yeah thanks. I got the exhuast problem fixed. It was running to lean. But after that happened, i got oil comming out the front between the water pump and first rotor

How much oil do you have pushing out? I think I have the same problem. Now I am putting a racing beat/holley setup on. I may have ignition problems as well.

Its not always normal, but its also not an uncommon sight on modified rotaries,or if youve been pushing hard and open the hood in the dark, and see some glow.
Doubtful anything was damaged unless the coolant/oil temps went into the redzone.
The oil leak is pretty common on the 12A's.It usually leaks around the top corner of the front rotor housing, near the distributor. Its caused by the o-rings in the main oil passage going bad from lack of oil cooling and years of neglect.
There is no cure other than a full rebuild. Its often called the "leak of death",but you can get by for a long time with the leak, depending on how bad the leak is.When it starts to affect your oil pressure, then youd better get it fixed or youll scatter a perfectly rebuildable engine into nothingness.
