VSS in 1st gen digital speedo

Im sure at least a few of us have thought this at some point in time. I want a digital dash, and I can get one from Dakota Digital for a good price, but I need a VSS to send the digital signal to the dash so I can re-calibrate it there. It doesnt matter what vss i use as long as it produces a pulse every rotation and fits the 12a tranny.
Do the 2nd gens or 3rd gens use them?
How about other mazda cars?
What is the gear tooth ratio on the speedo gear?

Whats its model number?
I have looked over the parts fiche, technical bulletin, heck I even checked my trans that is out of my car! HELP! I wanna try to find a converter for gear driven speedo to digital.....
