Sadly, the oem pump is barely adequate for the stock configuration. If you plan on doing any carb/exhaust upgrades later on, upgrade the pump now.

Yes the stocko isnt enough my car will sometimes cut out at 40-70mph when accelerating because its just not getting enough fuel.

I agree that if you are going to do a carb/exhaust upgrade later that it would be a good idea to upgrade the fuel pump now.

I am not in agreement that the stock fuel pump is barely adequate for a stock set up. I have had a lot of stock 12a carb'd applications over the years. Ones that I have owned and worked on. I never had any fuel issues in stock configuration.

Perhaps this statement would be true if the stock application was being used for extreme driving such as Autocross or other non intended daily driving.

I agree that the replacement pumps which Napa carries like the Facet square ones are not adequate for replacements.

A. J., with your experience and background I will defer to your opinion under the conditions stated. The oem pump is also the easiest replacement for the DIYer.

My biggest turn off about the oem pump is it's price, which runs over 100 bucks, iirc.

I'm picking up a new pump tomorow. i think its "ever flow" or something like that.

I should have checked this first

Ok so when all else fails check compresion. get ready for this. I checked L1 and T1 and decided after i got my reading no nead in going any further. drum roll please......25psi yep thats right 25psi maybe 30 on L2. looks like i get to get up and personal with the rotary. So what do i need for a engine rebuild. If you look through this thread you can see that everything is either new or has been rebuild. except the block of coarse. thans all
