Whoa. You have an angel, my friend (and I would reckon to say she is blonde).

My gut reaction would be to buy her back, park it and really mull this over. It's worth something. If not Pam herself, but to you definately. Not to sound sentimental or anything, but I'm 36 and STILL have dreams about my very first auto and the one I cherished the most (a 1975 Celica GT). It wasn't a Ferarri or even an Rx-7 but it had a lot of memories, A LOT of memories..I have always wanted that car back. Even wrecked (which it was). Just my two cents.

if he owns the car why would he have to buy it back? I assume it wasn't being paid for and that Mantis is the title holder so who does he need to answer to? If a bank owned it then I can see that, seen that before. but if I wreck my car will I need to buy it again to get my parts off of it?

IF you claim on the insurance and the insurance Co. writes it off you get the money and they own the car ... Somtimes you get the option to buy it back off them for a set (scrap value) price.

That's right MikeLMR.. Assuming Manntis had full coverage he should be compensated IF he files a claim. However, in this case Manntis (or his insurance company) may have a claim against the agency responsable for the road work which, according to Manntis, was not adequately cautioned to motorists. If thats the case, the opposing insurance company would pay the claim, own the car and Manntis could buy it back from them. Make sense? Here in the states we would say "HIRE A LAWYER!!!"

I still stick with my original suggestion for Manntis:

Pam was a wonderful part of your life, but don't let this bump in the road stop you from starting anew. Buy another 7 with the money you win in court or from the insurance, and build a car specifically for you. The perfect ManntisMobile. If you get to keep any of the car, perhaps you can put it to good use in the new one. How did the engine survive that?

Again, whatever you do Manntis, I wish you the best of luck, and I'm sure the forum will help in any way possible.

Amazing pics. I want to get a 7 even more, now that I can see how safe they really are. Please come back better and stronger (and faster, heh) than before.

there's the speed I left the highway at, and the speed the crash occurred. I've no idea what the second one was as the car was tumbling off the highway into the creekbed, adding velocity... in the case of the first there's a dispute but the RCMP stated I was doing about 80kph and witnesses say it was more like 60 - remember, this was on a twisty road in the rain.

Ya the RCMP is gonna try to make it look like you were in the wrong, so it can't come back and bite the BC government, or the Feds, because I do beleve the Fedral government is responsable for the Trans Canada, but i may be wrong.

Any way just bit burocrusy bitterness

Take Care

If you do that, then a perfect body will run you $800, perfect paint will run $2000, your interior looks great, labor to switch it all over AND pre-wire for great stereo should run about $1200, so that leaves $13,000 for a great suspension and a renesis motor under the hood.....since you're still in one piece, I'd say your future looks pretty bright, indeed...

well ... i'm truly impressed with the strength now that i've seen the pictures because from your description it sound like a lot more damage.

80 kph (that's about 50 mph, right?)

thanks for sharing this with us, Manntis ... again, my condolences.

That hurts. I know what it feels like; I trashed my 1985 FB in the summer of 1986 after 22 months of owbnership. I had just a minor head bump after getting nailed. The car took the brunt, and protected me well... amazing since I wasn't even wearing a seat belt.

The main thing is that you're OK. We're all glad to hear ya alive and kicking!

Hey, have you ever e-mailed the story of the car to Pam Anderson? She and Kid Rock area alittle cool these days; maybe she'll come by to comfort you.

mate I know how you feel when it comes to crashing your pride and joy. Attached is a pic of my racing Gen 1. this happened Feb this year infront of 30,000 spectators. Still finished the race even though I was hit by 4 cars in the one accident.
