On Tuesday Mschafe came down to take a look at the car and brought his video camera. Soooo.... we took the car out and got some action shots :)

This first one is getting onto the freeway right after comming out of a drift in 3rd gear.

The second one is getting on the freeway also, trying not to hit the car in front of me hehe. It's hard to tell how hard I got on the brakes sometimes.

The third is getting on the freeway again (all 3 are different entrance ramps) I go through the intersection easy then floor it after the hump in the road. You can see how 1st and 2nd are pretty much worthless but when I shifted into 3rd it bogged a little. I'm sure the 95deg F nd high humidity were stacking up against me :( On a nice night 3rd doesn't bog like that. I get up to ~100 then have to jab the brakes before rearending people on the freeway ;)

Keaponlaffen- thanks. You are right, it takes a lot of time and money but even more patience.

XLR8- don't know, haven't had it on a dyno. I can tell you that it keeps up with a 486bhp V-8 FC though.

dr0x- Fb's are fun cars, feels more like a gocart than a car.

1Revvin7- yeah, I'm still trying to get the shit stain out of my passenger seat! ;)

I sure hope you mean a different one....lol. I met a guy back at a Minnesota Sport Compact Club meeting, who drove the car I am describing. We hadn't talked much there......me and Matt pointed and laughed at his car though. Then, afterwards, on the way home.......he was playing around on the highway.....and I EASILY kept up with him......and I have an NA 12a motor, with very limited modifications.

I believe he said something about yanking the motor out of a truck in a junkyard and just slapping it together.

I agree. If I end up with that much wheel spin, I am definately replacing the 4.076 for a 3.27 when I put the 8.8 Ford in.

Cody- Nope different car, that white one is LUV94RX7's nephews. When both my friend and I were up at university Ken saw my buds car and about shit! I'll try to get a pic of his car up here in a bit.

dr0x- sounds fun to me! I have a 12a in the garage for a project like that someday :)

Bayce- I don't know if he just edited the first part of the first video or just started the camera a little late. But you can hear the tires for a split second right at the beginning. It wasn't a huge drift with the wheel at lock or anything, I'm not going to try that at 60mph. I'm not that confident in myself yet.

1984special- those cars are fast! He has a T2 rear and a th-350 auto trans that is built. His top speed is probably about 110mph but it gets there in no time at all. He has the same problem as me, traction.

CheddaKing- Thanks, it just takes time and money. I started on my project way back in oct '01.
haha, If I shifted from 1st to 3rd it would bog like it did in the 3rd video. The answer to my problems are more/better tire. Right now I have some gay touring 205-60-14's on it. They came off my parts car with ~95% tread. Furture plans call for some different wheels and tires.

Directfreak- Hasn't Cris got to your car yet? I want to see vids of yours too! :)
Like I was saying, more tire and I think i may be able to use second. I hope so anyways.

Sorry about the videos being so short.. we didn't have much space to do a long run because of traffic, etc... I'm happy to come up there anytime and take some extended video (inside AND outside the car while driving).

fatboy- once you get it tuned you will have a hard time getting out of the car! They are addicting! Durring the long build up there were times when I wasn't sure if it was worth it all. But after I spun the tires in 2nd like that for the first time I was hooked! I'm still pig rich in most areas but averaging 17.5mpg with out closed loop hooked up. I'm sure mid-low 20's will not be out of the question once I get it tuned 100%.

Yea, I haven't even put the car in gear, and I'm already addicted. It sounds sick, and revs up in neutral much faster than my old 12A. Oh, and the blow-off sounds :drool: :drool: :drool:

Unfortunately I'm starting to suspect my clutch install, instead of a hydraulic problem. I'm going to pull the access panel on the bell housing tomorrow. Hopefully I can get it figured out without pulling the tranny. Its driving me nuts with that thing just sitting there unable to get the clutch to disengage.

fatboy7- So when you push the pedal you can't the get the clutch slave to move the fork? Or it moves the fork but the clutch doesn't disengage?

inittab- Thanks, 2nd gear was short because it spins the tires like a SOB in 2nd ;) Watch the speedometer when I get into second :)

I press the clutch, the fork moves a good travel, but no disengagment. I took a look this morning, and for some reason the clutch disc is sticking to the pressure plate. I'm in the process of pulling the tranny :( to take a look. Hopefully, I'll have it back together tomorrow.

sounds like you need to make a custom rod for the slave. I had the same problem and i broke out the welder and some all-thread and made it adjustable worked fine but i dont have it anymore.

Anex250- it's a custom 13b turbo setup. Over 5k and under 10K :)

brianmcd- thanks, look ^. It's from a Mazda Cosmo. 1992 model, that is the car they also put the 20b in. The 13b-re is the standard engine.

How do you go about sourcing one of those engines?

Im so motivated to go work on my car right now from that its not even funny. Unfortunatly, I have nothing to do to it because I have no money to move forward with anything, and I ran out of things I can do for free. Its also too bad I only have 56K and I have to wait forever to watch those movies, lol. Ive only downloaded the first one so far, and I cant wait to see the rest...

Damn man, I CANT WAIT until I can finally get my "dream 13BT swap" going. After my car got stolen and all, I need something like that to show that it was all worth it in the end, ya know?

Damn Setzep, your car really puts my 12a turbo to shame. I have the mildport going back in soon because my stock 12a blew from high milage worn out apex's mid augest. If only I could get the DAMN endplate I need desperately in time for BIR(Brainard)10th and VSCR coming up. YOU should go to VSCR in St. Cloud on the 13th Sept. Your car would kill everything else out there if you know how to drive well even with stock suspenion or whatever you have. All you need is $70 and a SNELL 95 or newer helmet!

brian- not sure, if it ever hits the straight track I'd like to see 11.something from it. I think my buddy that has that V-8 FC is going to be taking his cr to the track soon. Whatever he gets I'm sure I woulden't be far off from it.

Wacky- haha, thanks I guess. I'd like to get my car on a twisty track someday but it needs tires bad! I have Eiabach springs, tokico illuminas and poly bushings up front but stock sway bars. I know it could do well but the 205's are really hurting me in the corners right now. It's bitter-sweet being able to step the rear end out in 3rd gear, fun but at the same time I'd like it to just stick.

I feel the need to build...something again :D
