Question very confused, motor selection etc....! please help?!

ok so im in kind of a bind here. i have an 82 rx-7 its my baby. this winter i want to put in a bridgeport or streetported motor. hers the tingf though. my goal is to get a very fast 12a motor perferbally not a 13b. and i want to make my car a track car but also wana take it out on the weekends and stuff. and realistically all i can spend on a motor now would be 2,000 or under. is it even possible to get a ported motor for that price? (i have a daily driver lol) so what should i do? any help geatly appreciated, thanks, Tim

There are also carbed 13Bs, just so you know, though they're getting kinda hard to come by these days. But you can also build one out of 12A irons and GSL-SE rotor housings.

A well-built bridgeport is probably out of the question on your budget unless you build it yourself.

one small question... why not fuel injected? well its alright. streetporting is probably best for you. it's inexpensive, as long as your internals are all good.

Build the bridgeport motor yourself.

What is involved with the 12a irons and the 13b GSL-SE Housings. We cracked our rear iron this weekend at the track right on the oil passage near the oil filter. Weird location to crack. We had a winner and had to pull in for the night. I have 2 boxes of Bridge Ported irons for 12a's no rotor housings for the 12a. I also have another 87 13b, with the one we just cracked the iron on. This could get us out there with more power than the street port we just cracked. If anyone wants to chime in or show me a thread for 12a irons with the 13b GSL-SE housings we'll do it.

to build a 4-port 13b with 12a irons you have to use -se or older housings , due to the coolant o-ring difference. You can use any rotating assy you like as long as it matches. I am currently running a 4-port 13b with -se housings, and older irons. To put it in a first gen easily use the -se oil pan and 12a/-se front cover.

Welcome to the forum.

A cracked rear iron, near the oil pedistal is usually caused by over-boosting, detination. Another possibility is the tranny bolts weren't torqued to specs. You can either replace the iron with an SE one, or replace all the irons 12A and mod the intake to match. I have a spare rear SE iron.

The following links are from my sig line that you can't view yet due to post count. The humor in it doesn't come out when it's cut and pasted.
