You should put a vertical support peice in the opening to keep the flex on the peice down (if needed) and that way the fiberglass/paint won't crack under pressure.

Awww man, I'm definately getting one of these at some point, hopefully before the end of summer. It looks awesome sofar, really looks like it will blend nicely with the stock lines. Plus my current header panel has a ton of rock chips and a crudely shaven emblem (Yeah, that's right it's JB Weld). I can wait for one. I'm thinking that in the end I'll pair this header vent with a reversed TII scoop.

1st7heaven, make sure you fiber the mes into place and don't use wire tabs into place bent over the mesh... These tend to concetrate the stress of holding the mesh there and cause stress cracks in the fiber.
Just my $.02

nice the reason I know this is because some friends have kits from big manufactures and they use the wire tabs bent over the mesh to hold it into place and of course it happend to them... glad some one else thought things through
You know what my friend and I just thought of...What about ducting in a true ram air intake into that? You could make a molded plastic piece that fits onto the back of the vent which you could then run a tube to for ducting into whatever intake you might have? Have the filter after the vent to keep bugs, leafs, small animals, or whatever out, and it should also help eliminate rain water coming in.

I think that would be difficult because you would have to come up through the top plate infront of the rad. Which would mean redesigning that peice to work around the plastic ducting. Also I think the ducting would end up having alot of bends to make it to the carb. Cool idea though.
