ND Vent/Bilevel/Heat/Defrost Motor Question..

A while back the motor that directs the air from the blower motor stopped working in my 85 gsl. All the buttons on the logicon still click and light up when pressed, and the A/C recirculate button still works and you can hear that electric motor operating.

My question,

Is there any way I can bench test this to see if it is a problem with the motor and lever, or the logicon? Has anyone else had this stop working as well? I have included pictures of the motor in question, as well as its harness connector. Thanks, Justin.

Grab the wiring diagram and determine what each pin is. Then see if you can simulate the input to drive the motor based on the various input conditions.

There is also a Logicon Checker (part number: 49 9200 030) that can be used to test the Logicon.

The Factory Service Manual for troubleshooting the heater can be found here: http://www.foxed.ca/rx7manual/manual...Electrical.pdf

Mode Control Motor Issue Solved!

KCREPU, I appreciate the reply and link you sent. I have been preoccupied with driving and exploring my new daily I bought last week, a '98 Honda CR-V 5 speed. I was looking for an XJ Cherokee, and ended up with this... Pics below. My wife has dubbed it the 'daddy wagon.'

Today I printed all the wiring diagrams of the mode control motor and prepared to start sending power to the different prongs. Just out of curiosity, I decided to remove the back cover and inspect the connections where the harness comes in. Sure enough, one of the metal tabs has come free of the board and needs to be soldered back on. I have attached some pictures of the board to show the issue.

As soon as I can get my soldering iron back from Christopher Walken, the motor should be back in business!

I also had my mode control motor stop working. Used the wiring diagram to make sure that the logicon was putting the correct signals out to the motor. Then pulled the motor out and opened it up. One of the contacts needed to be resoldered, just like jdmminot found. Its working properly now. Thanks for the post.
