Heh, I agree. Most 20Bs sound great. Most V8s don't. There are a few that sound otherwise, but it's just a few.
I've got three $200-$300 rebuilds under my belt. Well, one was closer to $400 while another was closer to $100 (all it needed was a gasket set and a set of used rotor housings from a core engine I had laying around).
kettleman, If it's a turn signal or whatever, why would the engine matter? If I knew I could help perhaps Kerry (or anyone else with a boinger engine) with a chassis related question, I think I would.

No, it's usually cost becuase they have some raggedy ford or sbc lying around or can score one for $300 and they'd rather go that route...what does a rotary rebuild kit cost? If it's $300, then they really have no excuse except the very task of rebuilding the rotary means buying some tools or renting some tools you would never need for a boinger rebuild and then you're talking more money again...
The only rotary specific tool I have is a 2 1/8" impact socket.

FOr a V-8 conversion for my .02 I would go with a Chevy 302 or the full blown 327. No need to go any further with it. 327 has 375 horse heads, need I say anymore?

I've seen a 189ci block do 10sec quarter mile in an old Holden EH which was street registered. You yanks always think bigger is better. Not true! Unless you plan to drag other top fuelers, wtf is the point of putting a huge block in the rx7? Your never going to make 600hp work properly unless you start doing some serious modifications and then its gonna cost a bucket load. Just wack a turbo on the 12a or 13b and enjoy!

Geez.... forget trying to put it in a 7... put it in a freakin' Miata... or a Triumph.... leave the rotary engines in a rotary engine car and the ****-ton engines in ****-ton engined cars.

lol, you guys really hate v8's. well it would cost the same to rebuild my rotary as putting in a v8, but i have experience with a v8, and i want it to be fuel injected, and a 350 would be better on gas.
