Question using stock or aftermarket FC srings on FB

does anybody use stock FC springs on their FB, asa a cheap way of getting some more stiffness. Do you think after market FC springs would be too stiff. There's a guy selling a set of rear Eibach Pro Kit springs for $70, but there for a sceond gen.

any suggestions

riza,

FC's use a mcphearson strut type rear suspension, while FB's use a coil spring with a standard shock absorber type in the rear, while the diameter of an FC spring might match the FB mounts , I sincerely doubt that the length will line up.

I would go to your local parts dealer, napa/pep boys whatever, and they should have an catalog of OEM non name brand springs, use this catalog to compare the length (both sprung and unsprung) diameter, and coil stiffness between the two cars you want to swap with.

Only by comparing them in that format will you know if it fits without buying it first.

Actually the rear suspension in a FC is a multi-link with subframe, the front is strut. The rear springs from an FC will not work in FB chassis as the diameters are different. The springs from an FC have a smaller diameter than the FB springs. Just save a few more dollars and wait a couple of weeks, some springs will show up on the forum. Alternatively, you can start looking at specs for other lightweight cars that have a solid rear axle (not many) and see if you can get a set that way, but I wouldn't go that route.

someone was just posting about putting 300zx springs into the fb. pretty sure it was "ianS". i believe that he only swapped the rear though. so there's an idea.
