i am going to look at a used first gen rx-7 tomorrow, what should i check on it? it has some csutom work done uner the hood, but the body needs some work. i haven't actually seen it yet, and i don't know exactly what year it is. anyway, what sorts of things should i check on the car before i buy it?

 

you should check the wheel wells and all suspention mounts. I know up here those are the first things to really rust.

Well heres what I look for rust in the quarter panels, around the suspension mounts in the rear... and also further to the rear at the bottom...

Oil puddles where it says Mazda 12A on the motor, leaks below the oil pedsetal/cooler.

Loose shifters cause of bad shifter bushings..

Other than this the obvious stuff, compression check, bad exhaust, smoke, etc
