Update on my 1st gen...

Well, before I was having some carb troubles, so I took it off and replaced the accelerator pump, needle & seat assemblies since they were sticking a bit, replaced the secondary diaphragm since it was crappy. Put carb back on car today and tried to give her a start, no dice. She'll fire and run for a sec or two, and then die again. I can play with the gas/choke and it'll still die. Every now and again she starts and sounds real good for a few seconds, but still dies. I'm a schrader valve tool away from checking the compression before I continue. She has spark and fuel for sure.

BTW for those that don't know, my car is a 84 GSL-SE converted to carb (Holley 600) w/ an exhaust. I'd be happy as a pig in **** to have it running again, but I've pretty much exhausted my knowledge trying to get it to run. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!!
Marc

i dunno any details as far as your conversion. got a thread explaining what u had previously done to try and get it running?? dont want to bring up things that were already tried. and a car with bad compression will still idle if u hit the gas pedal.(well most of them)

Is the fuel pump definately working? Filter not clogged? Choke working? Did you try bumping up the idle speed a bit?

yes yes yes yes.

I can hear the fuel pump, and the fuel pressure stays around 6psi, the filter is new (installed new when I installed pressure reg & gauge) Played with the choke to no avail... bumped up the idle a couple times, without much change.

One thing I am going to do is re-check the float level. I did the "dry check" in the holley manual I have and unsure if it's right on or needs some more adjustment. Other than that.

After that thread, I changed out a bunch of the gaskets and the accelerator pump diaphragm, secondary diaphragm, needle & seat assemblies, and a bunch of other gaskets. Also it has new gaskets under the carb, so it should be leak free (it's tightened down pretty good).

If you don't wanna read through the other thread for the finer details on the car, it's the stock 13b w/ 215k miles, RB Manifold, Holley 600 (NOT RB), RB Header & Presilencer, custom Catback, Premix w/o OMP, 5th & 6th port sleeves removed. I have written down all the carb part #s that I saw while taking it apart (I remember #62 jets, I think it was #26 or #27 for the accel pump squirter...). I even tried putting the accelerator pump back in (instead of plug) with no difference in how it behaves. I think that's everything...

Thanks again fellas!
