uneven rear pad wear

now this is no big deal by any means, im just curious.

a few of the SRX7 guys (including my dad) have experienced the problem of a tiny bit of uneven brake pad wear and no one can figure out why this happens. my theory is this.... inside of the part of the caliper that fits over the slider pin, theres a metal sleeve. now on higher milage cars (156000 in this case), i would bet that this sleeve is worn just enuf that its not a super-tight fit anymore (maybe a millimeter or so). could this be the answer? does anyone else have any other ideas?

sounds like a winner that or if 1 pad gets more wear than the other(inner and outer) id say the grease on the slider is gone and its freesing up. i know my 81 liked to do this and when it was *** cold out it wouls even lock up the 1 wheel on the parking brake. i honed it and sanded the rod the next spring and it has been great ever sence

On my 85 GSL, only one of the sliders was frozen up on the rear right caliper. Since only the rear slider was frozen, the caliper had "twisted" everytime you hit the brakes and made the pad wear at an angle. When I changed the pads, I founf that there was next to ned pad on the frozen slider side, and it was into the metal on the working side .

ive thought of the slider pin problem and it definately doesnt apply to my dads car, or anyone that races. at least once a weekend the wheels are off and every single time i remove the caliper, i apply grease to the slider pin.
