two more questions

so i think swaping my fuel pump will fix a couple of the major problems.. but there are always more. since i built this car myself, i am somewhat surprised that i am having this few...

tac does not work. i have tried two different ones, and the same thing. it reads that i am iteling at about 7-8k. and just pegs out at 8.. electrical problem? bad wiriing? everything else in the guage pod seems to work alright. just have a couple idiot lights on all the time.

also, the seven was overheating like crazy last night. i took my air pump out. could that have much of an effect on the speed of the fan, since there is now one less belt pulling it.. could this be why i was overheating?

thanks in advance

check your trailing coil and wiring, that is how the tach reads the signal. and check your thermostat first to see why your overheating..

Defiantly check the thermostat; do the old boil it on the stove trick to make sure it works correctly.

Also, with only 1 belt on the water pump, that could more than likely you overheating problem.

I’d Defiantly focus on this problem first and foremost! If you cook the engine the tach really won’t be all that important.

well the car did not over heat today, when i took it for a quick spin. so not sure what is up. i will check the thermostat tomorrow, if i can find a thermomiter that can go that high... i will also look at the coils...

otherwise, stuff is going to have to wait until january. tomorrow is really the last day that i have to work on this, since i leave the country this weekend, and will not be back for four months..

thanks for your help

Swap your leading and trailing ignitors. You may have to move the alt. a bit to get to the leading ignitor. Swap em (same parts) and fire it up and see if your tach behaves. If your tach does behave, then the problem lies in the ignitor. Goto junkyard and get 2. Tada! Hopefully that'll fix it, my leading ignitor was bad in my 83 GSL and I ran it on just the trailing plugs for a good year. It was like I got a new car when it all was fixed
