Twin Turbo

I want to know if the 1st generations of RX-7 can fit the twin turbo engines, I know the 2nd and 3rd can. I found an 82 rx-7 with lots of engine problems and i want to put in a twin turbo engine.

Mike-P-28 put a 13B-RE twin turbo in his first gen, and it fit . The turbos were converted to non-sequential (sp?) though, and I think hes single now, but it did fit .

I'm pretty sure from past threads that the twins didn't fit in the frame rails. He has a stage 5 second gen turbo on it know. I think? maybe? Hell, I'm not sure. lol

From being in the 2nd gen forum (I got an 87 rex) nonsequential is better for some reason. On the twin turbos I think it has to do with the boost pattern and when the 2nd turbo spools up in relation to the first on maxing out. Its a commonly discussed topic in the other forums so it wouldn't be too difficult to look up. It probably in their archives too.

Mike only used those turbos for illustration. I don't think they were converted to non sequential, the engine just had all its wiring removed...

I think he went single turbo.

the stock sequentials suck. You think you've got a lot of vacuum lines on there now, im guessing you havent looked at a 3rd gen engine.

Ok, he only put the engine in to test his engine mount that he made or whatever, and he had converted them to non-sequential for whatever reason. Now, he has a stage 5 as someone mentioned, and it running a single turbo. But, the point was IT DOES FIT. Well, when converted to non sequential anyway . Im sure they would fit stock too though...

I had the motor here so I thought why noit drop it in... A twin turbo cosmo 13b-re will fit inside the frame rails with plenty of room, a few inches side to side to be exact... But the turbos will have to be converted to non seq., theres a actuater on the bottom that will most definately hit the suspension...

The orginal plan was gonna be a twin turbo engine in the car, but I got greedy and started talking to mr. miller lite and he convinced me to 'buy now pay later' Credit card there I went

Yeah LOL Theres 17 vacuum solenoids on a RE LOL

Theres so many vacuum lines its not even funny//

BTW: If you think the stock sequential twins suck, you need to see the dyno sheet from some that bryan at BNR did, 427hp with the twins... Of course they were hybrid done But still impressive for them tiny POS..

Nope. A Big Single. 63-1 Custom Turbo. Good up to 600hp, with a quick spool time. For street use.
