TV Tornado Fuel Saver
TV Tornado Fuel Saver
I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience in a 1st gen. with the tornado fuel saver. (www.myauto.tv). i was seriously thinking about purchasing this if it'll help me with CA gas prices and possibly boost up hp for rather cheap, but i want opinions from you guys because you know a lot more than i do. thanks everyone.

Anyways, about this tornado thinger, it's a good thing you asked because it's completely dumb and if you bought it, you would've wasted your all your monies. If you look at their website, it even says this
Same goes for the HP claims.
Don't believe everything you see on TV. Esp when they say they'll give you 10% off when you call in the next 5 minutes!

Your results will vary. These tests were completed in a laboratory under test conditions. Mileage improvements, if any, vary widely depending on driving habits and the model, engine, and condition of the vehicle.

Those things are just shiny crap. Air is sucked in as a vacuum, and already does that. Hell, our vacuum has a "tornado chamber" where you get to watch the dirt spin in the twisting air after it is sucked up - and its just hollow tubes, like your intake, basically.

I actually had one of these POS tornado thingies on my turbo Audi for a while. I could tell NO difference in performance at all. Save your money for something worthwhile.

k well i wanted to hear from the damn rotorheads to see what your guys' opinion was because i know that our engines are much different from piston engines, and all those were tested on engines with pistons or fuel injection, and yeah i personally have neither. thanks for your help. i don't have the money to buy it anyway, so im glad i heard from you guys first.

Nooo... That's crap...
Instead, lemmie sell you this performance Camshaft...

It's made of a high strength, cryogenically treated unobtanium... It'll make your engine run on half the gas it currently uses and double your flywheel horsepower guaranteed.

And installation is accomplished with only a few bolts.
Act now! It's only $100 and it pays for itself!

LOL Pele.
Yea that thing is crap. If you see any fuel economy increase, its just cause its a flow restriction to the intake. Cheaper way to accomplish the same thing would be to stuff a rag down into one of your carb barrels. Or use a really dirty air filter so only a little air could get through. Theres simply no data to back up their claims that Ive ever seen. And last but not least, I did purchase one to test for flow purposes. It reduced total flow, no improvements whatsoever. Instead send your money to me so you can keep your current power and fuel economy and Ill send you either a rag or a dirty filter. Just kidding. Not raggin on you (haha get it) just raggin on these charlatans.

Alright, i don't know if anyone posted this allready, but the thing is crap. Cars, from the factory run lean, this thing blocks airflow and gives you a little bit better mixture... thats all it does... its kinda worthless.
Not kinda......IT IS WORTHLESS!!!
Sport Compact Car Magazine did a test on this piece of **** about 5 years ago when it first came out. And beleive or not a FB was one of the cars they tested and it lost 3hp and 1mpg. Engines are air pumps, anything that restricts the air without compensation (turbo) is worthless.

There are plenty of tests that prove that this WOULD and COULD be a good thing, like the 2 liter bottles and the tornado coupling device. It takes the bottle about a minute to drain without making the water into a tornado, but 10 seconds if you do. THis says the product will indeed work.... if your at the bottom of a lake sucking in cold water.

Nah... this is how they get you...
You buy the thing and install it.. And to check your milage, you drive real careful like... THIS is the change that gets you...
And after a few weeks, you think it's working, so you forget about checking your milage... Then you go back to normal driving...
It's just like the claim that Shell gas gets better milage... It's crap...

They take a 2 liter bottle, fill it about half way with water and tape the mouth to another 2 liter bottle. They flip the bottle over and the water slowly gurgles it's way from the top bottle to the bottom. Then they do it again but this time swirl the bottles around, making the water swirl around and it quicklly goes from the top bottle to the other. It's a totally bogus demonstration.
To get the water into the bottom bottle as fast as possible, the water in the top bottle needs to have an easy way to exchange places with the air in the bottom bottle. By just filpping the bottles over the water in the top bottle totally blocks the air in the bottom bottle from trading places, making the water slow to enter the bottom bottle. The reason the water makes it down faster the second time is because the swirling water tends to stick to the sides of the bottle due to centrifical force and it leaves an opening in the water at the center of the neck of the bottle for air to easily exchange places with the water.
This has absolutely nothing to do with the way the tornado thing is supposed to work but it makes a cool swirling demonstration.
They throw every unrelated swirling demonstration they possibly can at this thing. I'm surprised they don't show the rifling action of a bullet and claim that this thing works on the same principle (it's not, in case anyone was wondering).
The infomercial is very frustrating for me to watch because it's such a blatent disregard for science and logic.
