Trying to swap 13b into an 85gsl.
I found a 88 turbo 2 at a junkyard where i originally bought my car from (85 gsl) . I am going to go up there today and ask how much it will cost to rip that car down to a frame (take the engine, tranny, ignition, wiring harness, ecu, ect...). I know i need new engine mounts to put a 13b engine into my car, but i believe i also need a new drive shaft. And i don't think that the 88's shaft will fit into my car with this setup. Has anyone done this and have any advice, or know what drive shaft will fill these needs? Thanks.
Billy.

You will need a custom driveshaft to fit a Turbo II Tranny into a First Gen RX-7.
You can fit your new engine onto the stock 12A tranny with minimal fuss - but not recommended for a high output turbo engine.
If you are going into the unknown, use this thread
Turbo II into GSL-SE as your ray of light.
It will have most of your possible questions answered there in such a swap, with many, many good links giving related info.
Good Luck.

The stock 12A mount can be used, if you hammer the mount flat and rebend the ends and crop one of the corners (beleive its the drivers side one, it hits the front of the motor when its moved forward... If this is all done right and after you mod the T2 trannys shift rod to allow the FB shift housing on there, you should be the same exact length as the stock Driveshaft, only difference is the t2 is a 32 spline, while the 12A tranny is a 31 spline.
Go to the post directfreak recommended theres a shitload of sites on there where people have done it. Theres one in particualr where the guy even spoon feeds ya and tells exactly what wires go where... And by the way is this car damaged? Cause if it isnt I bet the motor or something else is toasted...If this car is complete Id make the bastards put the battery in it and run it for ya...
Theres a shitload more stuff your gonna have to do, but your learn along the way (devilsih grin)
LOL

I'll tell you right now, be prepared with both money and patience. I only put in an n/a 13B (which is far simpler) and that has been a bitch and a half. I can only imagine what Directfreak and Mike-P are going through with their projects.
If you were to do the TII swap, read everything you possibly can first, then ask about anything you don't know 100%, then read everything again, then buy the stuff you need. Mistakes suck ***.
If you do it, keep us updated on the progress and know that I wish you the best of luck. You'll learn more about cars than you ever wanted to know and develop a great love/hate relationship with your garage and everything in it. Lot of fun, lot of work.

Thanks for the advise guys. Well, the cars body is good, but the turbo on the engine is bad.. But i so happen to have another lying around. If all else fails i will kill some free time trying to rebuild it. Basicly its just something to do to kill my time. That and the fact two of my friends just got 7's as well. A 87 t2 and a fd.... so i have to make my car just a little faster to keep up. *grin* When i get this thing started i will keep you guys updated.

haha wiring. yeah just taking trying to make sense of yours gave me the heebyjeebies. i'm gonna go carb and go the way of the diminished fuel economy
hey tim - care to share some info about your exhaust setup? i'm kinda curious and i'd forgotten what you put together.

LOL Wonder why I said that, I guess its cause I mess with wiring all day long for 12 years
But I will say the exhaust is gonna be easy... Ill get a big laugh out of ya when you are trying to get the fuel system under there and to work
LOL Theres a LOT of stuff Billy you arent seeing, and a lot of it is gonna cost you green. (unless you know how to put a 2nd gen fuel tank in a 1st gen) They pumps are in different places (2nd gen is internal and 1 st gen is external and not a EFI pump) Have fun,

Well, i already have kinda changed out my fuel system with a regualted holley pump. Im fairly sure i can rig anything that i need to with a parts car... or so i hope. This wouldn't be fun if it wasn't a challenge.

Well, i talked to the guy at the junkyard about the car. he said that it ran good for a while, then it will smoke out the back.... aka the turbo is bad. But as he said, he dosen't know anything about rotaries, so im getting the engine, and all the wirering goodies for about 400. This just leaves me to search for a tranny, which shouldn't be hard.

I was going to do that, but there are a few problems with that. One is that the zoning where i live prohibits junk cars or parts cars, and i have very **** neighbors. And 2 is the fact that this car has no wheels, and he is pulling the parts for me for free. Thought i might say to hell with it and get another car down the line if things start to be a pain in the ***. maybe i will just hide it in my garage... *evil grin*
