I've been pulled over many times and yet I've never been given any hassle about the HID lights. Even so if I ever did I would just say that I upgraded my lights because the stock ones didn't do any justice for me at night

I have a full HID kit in my 85 Rx-7.

My car came from the factory with the H4 globes, so it was a easy swap with plug and play.

The lights are angled correctly, so I have never had any drama's from the police and they look just like Kerebrus's...

The light is reflected perfectly across the road from one side to the other...the improvement in light from the factory H4's is ******* AWESOME!!!...you don't need any other "reflector" set up.

Cam...

(the Philips D2S or D2R HID bulb to be used on a standard H4 headlamp housing, such as motorcycle or aftermarket automotive style housing has correct beam alignment shield to project light from the HID lamp to the road, eliminating upward glare). This is the adapter I am considering to use. it will direct the light to the road and avoid having a spot light. please let me know your thoughts.

FYI, hid's use much less voltage when on than a standard bulb. It uses quite a bit for the inital strike, but almost nothing while on.

So you were planning on using just the metal shield from those bulbs on a new HID kit, or what? That looks like a great Idea... I just wouldn't want to pay all that money to get bulbs with shields if I wasn't going to use the actual bulbs. Can you buy the shields individually?

shield comes separate from the bulbs but its only $23 with shipping. the heading on ebay is (H4 to D2S/D2R Adapters for Philips Xenon HID bulbs 9003).

black dragon auto sells some light harness that takes care of that problem, tg ferrell did a nice write up comparing using the stock bulbs with and w/out the harness.
