transmissions vs. speedometer cable?

Is there anything compatibility-wise I need to worry about with fitting a replacement speedo cable? I have an '85 body with a not-sure-what-year FB manual transmission.

No they should all be interchangeable.

Length possibly. Threading and connections on both ends are the same on all years.
