Transmission tail assembly procedures.

I need to know the correct sequence and torque specs to assemble the tail on my tranmission.

I have found that simply mounting it and torqueing it down to 35 ft-lbs causes the drive spleen to not center itself in the tail which causes the rear oil seal to rub the drive shaft (and not easily spin).

I may be overlooking something, but I have the feeling that I am not tightening the bolts in the correct sequence to center the tail. anyone have experience with this?

In general, when torquing a circular pattern, use the same method that's used on wheels. It may also help to torque in stages as you criss cross the circle. 10#s, then 20#s and finally 35#s. Then do a circular pattern of 35#s.

Thanks guys. I think I was not using the correct driveshaft (a turbo driveshaft instead of the custom driveshaft with the GSL-SE ends).

Either way, if I have to take the tail back off, I will try torqueing in that sequence.
