Transmission interchange information

From forum

https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-arch...mation-783499/

"On the S5 N/A transmission in a 81-85 model there are modifications needed.

You remove the rear counterweight or harmonic balancer as they call it removed from the S5 transmission then swap the tail shaft housings over.
You would use your appropriate drive shaft from your 81-85 model with the S5 transmission."

So we are clear! The harmonic balancer is not needed, and the 12a tail shaft will not fit on the S5 transmission with the balancer on it? And removing it will not mess with the balance of the transmission. Yes?

yes, its a damper, its just there to dampen some gear noise.

You will also need to use the shift rod from the 81-85 transmission.

That dampener is useless weight. It's long gone on both my S5 T2 transmissions and they are smooth as silk

My S5 NA transmission didn't have one. That meant less work for me for the FB tailhousing swap.
