told to sell my car
yesterday i went to the local exhaust joint, to get a quote on a rear muffler..
and as soon as the guy looked under the car he said "sell this thing!" im like "why?? i've only had it on the road a month after rebuilding it the past year, im not selling it", he goes "this thing has no thermal reactor, its not road worthy, and the EPA people want you rotaries off the road, and they have to power to do it".
so we argued the next 10 mins, i told him i got the thermal reactor and all the gear at home to get it road worthy and he still persisted i sell it.
so i wasnt happy about that.....
and there you go, a poinless story i just felt i had to share with you's

See quote in sig.
Don't listen to that bullshit. If the EPA were so worried about it, they'd have pulled all the pre-emissions cars already. Rotary is in no government consiparcy (of the evil sort at least).
I'm pretty sure that all mechanics at those little places say that so you're thinking, "wow, these must have a lot of problems!" Meanhile he's thinking, "Hehe, new
'EPA approved' thermal reactor, $600, new 'legal flow' exhaust, $300, rerurbished 'old-but-still-pretty-good' muffler, $400, etc., etc."

djm,
I didn't realize the EPA had such wide ranging authority. Now they are even worried about Australia? The only RX's in the US with thermal reactors were the 79 and 80. Then they went to cats.

im pretty sure I would defind my car with my life if the ******* EPA came to take it away.
just for kicks, I had my car emmissions tested at my school.
peged the HC meter (on high scale) and failed everything else by a huge amount.
My engine performance teacher says my car lets off more polutants than hundred SUVs combined.
Long live the rotary!

I don't mind the people who barely heard of a rotary and have questions. I DO mind the people who do know "of them", but are closed minded, and this guys defince is disturbing, I would of told him that he had better get the car off the lift quick and you'll tell him that you will warn everyone to stay clear of his business.
Also, ask him why he said sell it? ..and, What would the new owner do, sell it also? This guy you speak of must go to hell or something for having such a negative atitude. Is he a fired EPA inspector or something?
