Tokiko HP: Good enough?

Are the basic Tokiko struts/shokcs (HP or something like that) good enough for the car?

I mean, they are better than stock, but not a full racing shock ?

I was thinking of pairing these with RB lowering springs, and front/rear swaybars. Any tips?

Thanks!!

Geoff

I have been running them for years... I like them very much. The Illuminas are better, but much more expensive.

Full racing shock? Obviously they aren't a racing shock lol. Neither are the RB springs anywhere near that kind of thing. You'd never want to run a full race suspension on the street.

I assume you're talking about street/autocross driving?

If you want something more aggressive/tuneable, check out the Ground Control coilover setup.

www.groundcontrol.com

Those guys know their ****; they can advise you as to the best suspension setup for your intended driving.

I use the HP's with RB springs. It was a vast improvement for what little money I spent on it (I'm too poor for coilovers and ****).

the hp's are great for the price, way better than stock IMO. but now i'm wishing i'd spent the extra for the illuminas (adjustable). it'd sure be nice to be able to soften the ride on long road trips.

I'll echo Silver's and Felix's posts. I'm running the RB springs with Tokico blues and I'm very happy with the setup (also have urethane bushings up front and in the rear to actually ... )

Should i dunk the extra change into getting the illumina's over the HPs?

I'm pretty srue i'm gonna stick with the RB springs/swaybars/bushigns.

Yup, road use, agressive road, and highway.

Ah, some good suspension Info I can use. Where is the best place to get Tokico shocks/struts (mail order, unless its within an hour of Lincoln, NE)? Also, how much did everybody pay for theirs, and where did you get 'em?

Their website prices seem to be pretty old. I'd give them a call first. www.shox.com has GREAT prices and good service. I got my Tokiko Blues and Eibach pro-kit springs from them for about 400 bucks. I'm very happy with the setup.

Ok, so here's another question, what's the difference between HP's and "Blue's"?

They are the same thing. The HP's are a bright blue color, hence the nickname.

Ditto on the above feelings on the HPs. For me, not work the extra money for the Illuminas, but yeah... it would be nice to be able to soften up the ride from time to time.
