tires on an 85gs

Ok the car has 13" rims & I don't feel like buying new ones now.

I looked on various tire manufactures web sites & see where several size tires fit
The car currently has 185/70/13 tires on it.
The tire site indicate that what they call a +1 tire fits as well a 205/60/13

Where will I notice a differance, in ride, handling & looks.

what is best ?

I won't be racing, or autox , just "normal" fun driving aroud town.

btw - it is about fifty bucks differance

I was looking at a Cooper tire RWL

you should notice a big diffrence in looks and handing, it might ride a bit rougher then if you had the stock size on there. What part of AL do you live in?

205. . . isn't that like, a big width difference from 185? How would both those sizes fit on the same wheel.

I was a bit concerned as well but the tire website indicates they fit & says they might rub in tight turns, does anyone have any experience with this ?

thanks

Jeff

The 205/60-13 will look much better and will ride close enough. They should not rub if your car is stock, and if they do, it is likely they will only rub on the front sway bar on tight turns. You will have better handling with more tire patch on the pavement. Most people seem to be fond of the Sumitomo HTR200 for a reasonably priced 205/60-13.

the only RWL tire i could find in the 205/60/13 size was made by Cooper it was a Cobra Radial GT

I think it was about 230-240 for a set.

I kinda like the RWL tires, hard to find in a 13" tire.

The 205/60-13 Sumitomo HTR200 is a great inexpensive tire. It will look and drive well.

RWL is raised white letters I assume?

I have the Sumitomo HTR 200s and they are great tires. They do not have white letters, but doesn't matter to me.

RWL's were great for 60's & 70's muscle cars. I think they are inappropriate on a 7, imho.

tirerack.com sells the Sumitomo HTR 200s for about 180 plus shipping, but i don't think they are availble in RWL.

Yea i live about 30 to 45 mins from the speed way.

haha, it says on tirerack.com that you can get those Sumitomos in white wall. Now THAT is inappropriate on a 7.
