Question Tire Width on Stock Rims?

Does anyone know the OEM tire width for the stock rims for an 82? Mine has these puney 175's that don't grip for crap....

Anyone know what the maximum width for tires on these rims is?

I want it to look stock, so I don't want to change rims. How about 205's??

12A RX7s came with 185/70/13 tires. I think the cheap cheap versions might have sported 175s on steel rims.

You can fit 205/60/13 tires on the stock rims if you can find them. Yokohama had the AVSi in this size, but they discontinued it.

try tirerack, they should have that size.

I have 205/60's on my stock rims, I found mine in a junkyard. You never know what you'll find.....

Any wider than 205's and you'll rub. On my stock rims, I have 205/60/13 Sumitomo HTR4s ($46 per through Tire Rack) and they stick like glue, as long as you're not intending to drive in snow/ice.

A tire suggestion if I may? I dont know if they make em in a size for the 7, but I just bought a set of Cooper Cobra G/T Radials, they are pretty damned sweet. The Stang has a lot more torque than my 7 ever did and these tires hook right up and handle good (well the car handles as good as any mustang with a full drag suspension ever could) If you can get them I suggest them... not that expensive either and they last longer than any Yokohama ever would. Yokohamas are good, I just like tires that are just as good and last longer than 15k miles
