tire size on 5.5 wheels?

Hey guys just a quick question. Are 215's too wide on a 5.5 wheel? I need traction bad and the only size BFG makes the drag radials in a 14in rim is a 215. I know the SE's came with 205's. Would the 215's be that much wider? The 195 Azenis thats on the car now is useless when full boost hits and just breaks loose.

Thanks, Ed

I've got Sumitomos on the stock 13" "plus" wheels. 215/50 with no issues.

Hey guys,

I just went through this yesterday when I was at the my local tire dealer. The guy has owned his business for 35 years. Here said that the stock SE comes with 205/60/14'. If you want a wider tire, the sky is the limit. The only thing, according to him, that will affect your turns (tires rubbing the inside of fender) is the height of the tire. He said if you want to keep the same height but just want a wider, lower profile tire, add 10 to the first number and subtract it from the second number. So a 215/50/14, or even a 225/40/14 should end up being the same overall circumference. I am no tire expert, so I don't know if he is right or not. I think a 215/50/14 would look real sweet on the stock SE rims. I don;t think anbody makes anything wider than a 45 for a 5.5 rim.

Just my two cents,

SE Lover
