Tips for removing key switch?!?

Tips for removing key switch?!?

So im trying to replace the Key switch and tumbler on my steering column but i can't get the old one off...I got a manual for the car but it doesn't say anything in there about removing it, any tips on how to remove the old housing from the column? thanks

are you replacing the part with the wires or the part ypu put the key in??

the part that holds the part you put your key in... someone tried to hot wire it and cut the top off so yeah its screwed...

small chisel or a screwdriver plus a hammer to drive out the 2 screws that holds the key cylinder. The steering assembly is bolted down (2 bolts) to the dash frame. Unbolt them to make room.

when you look on top of the assembly youll see what look like the head of two bolts that are just round. theres no where to stick any tools on them for grip. so you have to do what wacy said above. take a chisel and a hammer. hit each one on the edges turning it counter clockwise. it may be a little time consuming but isnt that hard.

if you have a dremel tool just slot the heads with a cutting disc.
way cleaner than a chisel and hammer.
