Timing question
I am looking for recommedations on what modified timining people run. I have a rb race header, 2.5 in. straight exhaust into a Borla XR-1 3 in. muffler, stock ports, nikki w/stock jets, carter pump, fuel press. regulator set at 2.2 psi, stock air cleaner, and no rats nest. The timing at the moment is set to dead on stock. I am looking to alter the timing a bit to take adantage of my mods for a little extra power. Information and opinions would be generously appreciated.

Wow, so there is no reason to change the timing? I have almost the same mods as evita, but I have mech secs and a chopped up air box. I thought about the same thing. Improved airflow through the intake and exhaust should change something, right?

Play with it! See what works for you. The best ignition upgrade would be a Direct Fire Ignition set up. Search Paul Yaw And if you have the stock air filter get the K&N filter and put as many holes as possible in the cover!

Pro7 procedure is to set the timing at 5500-6000 rpm. At that rpm, advanced should be 25, trailing 17. The front runners then put the car on a dyno and fine tune timing and jetting for max power.
Pro7 engines are stock except for carb jetting, no rats nest and straight exhaust (no header allowed). Running stock timing will cost you quite a few HP.
This is a racing set up, YMMV.
