timing prob.

ok, i have a 85 gsl auto. now it has a standerd distributer i think it has two vac lines but they run on the same relay. what it dose is if you put it in time by the marks, it radles real band on accel. and no power at all. what i did was i had to pull the dis. out and move it to teeth and set it back in. it runs now real good. i know that this cant be right rought to take but is it ok. and if not what do i do to fix the problem?

Are you using the leading timing mark on the front pully. if for some reason you are using the trailing mark it will be way out of time and could cause that.
