timing light

can a regular timing light be used like one that would be used on a piston motor.i have the timing light that goes on the plug itself with the coil spring attached. and if someone knows of a link that explains the procedure in better detail of how to do the timing, it would be greatly appreciated. still learning, beats having someone else do it. if i screw it up, i cant kick my own @ss!

i JUST DID MINE FOR THE FIRST TIME...IT IS EASY BUT YOU HAVE TO TIME IT FOR BOTH THE LEADING AND TRAILING...IT IS EASY ...IF I CAN DO IT , ANYONE CAN...GET A HAYNES MANUAL ..IT WOULD HELP A BIT...i WILL BE GLAD TO GO THROUGH IT WITH YOU IF YOU WANT...LET ME KNOW....=cHRIS=
