Timing

Almost there and appreciate all the help everyone on the forum has provided me with as I have asked alot, alot, alot of questions. Heres to you Mr. Roatary car guy who can't seem to find the pistons .

Now for the question. I have the Msd box on and all. I can hook up the timing light to the trailing side and get the light to work but if I hook it up to the leading I get nothing. I still have everything running through the distributor because I like the smoothness better that way.
