TII wheels on an FB (ReSpeed 5-bolt swap question)
Installed the ReSpeed 5-bolt adapters on my GSL-SE, and it has dramtically altered the offset of the front wheels. I have a set of 38mm offset wheels, drilled for both 5 and 4 x 114.3 with 205 series tires on them. Before the swap the wheels fit, after not even close (Maybe 1/2 inch to 3/4 space).
For those that have used them: What are you doing for wheels? What offset?
/The TII wheels in this pic fit with two 1/4 in spacers. I'm not driving it like this, just wanted to see what it looked like.

i have this swap on my car. did you do the respeed rear also?
i found a set of Work Equips from an importer for actually a really good deal. i have 16x7 and 16x8. im not sure what the offsets are but i could look tomorrow and let you know. the fronts are about .25" away from everything on the inside and about flush with the fender. i also rolled my fenders just for more room. for the rears you can use stock FC wheels and they should fit without spacers.
billy also said there are some wheels that fit perfectly off of...a mitsubishi? im not sure. he said you can get a full set off ebay brand new for around $300.
just look around. try to find a wheel with no more than 5" backspacing.

I think 25mm is 1" and apparently spacers if made of quality aluminum can be perfectly fine. I plan on running a set on my project, although I'll be running a set of FC convertable rims, which I think are narrower than the T2 rims....
i'll be honest, I thought spacers were unsafe, but after seeing that the FC's hub is aluminum of about the same thickness/construction of the average spacer I though differently, I'm sure it would be just fine on the front wheels. The rears is a different story....

Yea I rememberd you had the ford rear in there, I bought your old driveshaft remember you'll have to measure to see exactly what size you need, but my calculations suggest a 25mm spacer is needed to fit the vert wheels, and others who have run vert wheels say the same thing. These should work fine, although not specifically listed for a rx7:

The battery in my micrometer is dead, but I'm pretty sure 60.1mm is the bore size for our hubs, you should probably double check my work since the written numbers on a digital mic probably aren't the most accurate thing...

I really just want to be able to run 225s up front again. Maybe I'll give the 25mm spacers a shot.
On second thought, I think I have some 225 Hoosiers on 38mm wheels around here somewhere. I'll space them out with washers till they clear and then measure the washers

Anyone that says spacers aren't safe is screwing you around. Take a look at an average hub. Even the aluminum TII hubs are no more that 3/4" thick and they don't warp at all. Once you bolt that spacer on, its "one with the hub".
Anyway, I'm getting my spacers made of mild steel, 1" thick using a 38mm offset wheel. Should put the wheel in the perfect spot. Is your car a GSL-SE? If so you shouldn't need any spacers. If not, then a 1" spacer on a 7" wide wheel will fit perfectly fine.
BTW, the Vert rims are 15x6.5 with 38mm offset and the TII are 16x7 with 40mm offset.

here's a thought... Ducktape installed these spacers on his gsl-SE The rest appear to be running on what were originally non-se cars.
The stock offset for a 7" wheel on an se is about 38mm. if you put a 25mm spacer/adapter on there, you'd have to run wheels with 25mm more offset (i.e about 53mm, like Rx8 style)
The non-SE cars run a different offset stock, in the range of 12 to 15 I think. If you add the 25mm spacer/adapter, NOW you are in teh range of the 38 to 40mm FC wheels.
Again, just my theory here.. I am not familiar with these specific adapters. YMMV

Got a good suggestion from Ludwig to get some fenderwell room back. i run a coilover up front that sits on top of the stock perch... This is the spot I'm having the contact trouble.
I'm thinking I might cut away the front lip of the perch, and round the edges off to sit flush with the coilover sleeve. I could probably get 3-5mm back, and use a 20mm spacer as opposed to a 25mm. With a little bit of louisville-slugger work on the fender-lip I might be able to get my 225s back under the car.
