TII tranny - fuel mileage ?

Hey guys,
My transmission will soon be dead, enough grinding and whirring coming from the back of it to make you think your in a space machine....but I digress.
I'm thinking of getting a T2 transmision and was wondering, in theory, if the gears are wider, then at highway speed my rpm's should be lower than a car with a stock tranny.Right? Therefore my miles per gallon should increase. Correct?

If it's too low I think you will be in the idle circuit of the carburetor which would be running to rich.

Search - it's been covered.

Any tranny other than an FB will require a custom driveshaft.
The gearing is not that big a difference. Just use another FB tranny.

Number 1, I am well aware of the fab work involved.

number 2, If it's been covered, search and post a link, I didn't find it.

Number 3, this is the second time I ask a question and get a negative response (no need).

Number 4, It is a simple yes or no question.

Number 5, well there is no number 5.

Number 6, the next engine in the car will be a T2, so just paving the way.

Number 7, Relax.

I think the difference in gearing is so little that you wouldn't notice much difference. It would be more effective to put larger tires on the rear.

Thank you. Just what I'm looking for. I'm already using 16 in wheels.

I thought I remember reading somewhere that if you use the FB tailshaft on the FC transmission than you can use the FB driveshaft. Maybe you should read a fuel map...high load at low rpms uses....low load at high rpms...I don't know, just an idea, but good luck.
