The TII swap (first update in a few years)

Its been some time since I have made an update on my TII swap that I started so many years. ago. I tore my first gen apart the winter I was 17, and Im 24 now. I still have the car, and it has been running and boosting for almost 2 years now.

Here's a short rundown of the build and the current setup.

Here's a pic of the car when I first started. My original mods were a fuel pump, regulator, air-filter, rats-nest delete, Racing beat long primary exhaust and some ignition upgrades. Added some B&G springs and Tokico Illumina that I still run today

I first pulled the motor and began the 3 month long process of removing all the wax/anti-rust crap that was all over the place. I then began starting to peice together the stuff for the swap. Specific items can be found in the mod list later on.

More things coming together. This is generally where the car sits now.

Next to my new truck at a local show.

I bought a Non-running GSL-SE. It was $500 and looked clean, but after stripping it down, the rust was worse than I had, so I stripped it of parts and junked the chassis.

My car currently runs the full suspension and brake setup from this car, with all brand new stainless lines and hydraulics from pedal to pad.

Ill wash it and take some pics

Heres a short video I took while taking some dataloging last year.

Looking good, glad to see you are still around 7's. I remember reading your earlier build threads years ago (when they were new) and had wondered what had happened.
Good luck with everything, from another 24 y/o T2 FB owner

I really like that gauge cluster, looks so simple from the back in terms of wiring.

Here's what that SE looked like when I was done with it.

I took pretty much every ******* thing off and junked the body.

The main things I got from that are on the silver car are the steering, suspension and brakes.

so if you dont mind me asking, what was the ending price in all this, say you didnt have an rx to start with and you bought the 500 gsl-se and started from there. im thinking of buying a -se and puttin a tii motor in it when i get out the army. just wondering on how much i might be spending. parts wise, not labor from a shop. i plan on doing the work myself since im going to the army for mechanics.

Man, I could have used that sunroof panel from the -SE. My car is even white. Oh well.

Nice job man, I remember back when it was started too. Mine is coming together slowly again after the theft oh so long ago. Mine is going to be an NA 12A for now, RB streetport, RB full exhaust, RB Holley intake, blah blah. I just want to drive the thing again, and its the cheapest easiest way. I can always go T2 later after I get it going again and roadworthy.

Most of my setup was pieced together from ebay and the summit racing catalog. Things like the fuel, cooling, and oiling system were built from complete scratch using universal racing parts. the fuel system alone cost about $1000 at least.

Its been a long time building and I have not kept track, but my guess is total invested is in the $10-13K range.

TII swaps can be done on SE's for fairly cheap.

Use all the original computer, harness, intercooler, turbo, trans, clutch. (EBAY JDM engine - ~$1200

That leaves a custom driveshaft, (about $175 from thrash driveshaft)
fuel pump/reg (~$250)
custom exhaust ($400) TII downpipes will work swapped first gens

lots of time and work

I still have it, and a bunch of the crap off it. It never ran, but turned over smooth.
